The focus of this article was more on the fact that the Trans-Atlantic slave trade was abolished rather than the whole institution of slavery across the empire. I do recognise that the some of the subjects of the empire were treated as basically slaves as was seen straight after the abolition. Most freed slaves were employed by their old slave owners for very little money.

With this article I wanted to highlight the steps taken by the British empire to atleast limit the slavery institution. Effective or not this was the first big movement towards equality between the races and therefore I found it significant to highlight.
